Special Touch Rugby train the trainer programme with Kampuchea Balopp

On Saturday 29th of June, Soulcial Trust partnered with Kampuchea Balopp, an NGO based in Phnom Penh whose mission is to give underprivileged children access to sports. The goal of the event was to give our local partners a more tangible idea of what Touch Rugby is, through both theoretical and practical sessions.

Ten sports teachers from different local organisations (Krousar Thmey, Anjali House, Sunrise Cambodia and KidsPlay International) joined us for a full day of training with a theoretical session at Sunrise Cambodia in the morning and a practice session with 30 children in the afternoon.

This training was part of our Touch Rugby programme for students with and without disabilities. It aimed to build capacity among our partners willing to teach touch rugby and its values to their students.

This first ever special training day was a big success, the educators, trainers and children had a great time learning and training together. Given the good feedbacks we got from the participants and educators, there are good chances that we will organise similar capacity building events in the future with Kampuchea Balopp and other partners in Siem Reap.
