Cambodia Airports invited Soulcial Trust,the coordinating member ofSiem Reap Green Committee, to organize a week long event at the Airport. The main objective was to raise awrenees on environmental issues on this special week.

New environmental challenges

With mass tourism, it is necessary for cities facing large influxes of visitors to be prepared to deal with the consequences. Like many other cities in the world, Siem Reap is unable to manage the side effects of this ever-growing industry. It is therefore essential to raise environmental awareness and support local initiatives to ensure an optimistic future and sustainable cities. To achieve this goal, Cambodia Airports invited Soulcial Trust, the coordinating member of the Siem Reap Green Committee, to organize a one-week event at Siem Reap International Airport to highlight World Environment Day.

Environment week

This event included the participation of five different organizations as well as socially and environmentally responsible companies. The objective was to raise travellers’ awareness of environmental issues and promote organizations and companies working for a cleaner and more environmentally friendly Cambodia. Participating organizations were: Kingdom of Wow, Rehash Trash, Cambodia Bird Guide Association, Can’Art, and Friends International. Also, Selong Vat, an artist based in Siem Reap, was invited to exhibit some of his works made from recycled materials.
